11. Individualized Mentor Session

The following topics will be covered in the Individualized Mentoring Session.  The mock screening portion(s) will require another person to briefly join us. A child is preferable, but an adult will work, as well.   

• Describe the vision screening area used for your screenings
• What are three examples of vision issues found in the ABC of observation?  What other ways can you use the observation document?
• Conduct a mock chart-based vision screening utilizing an evidence-based tool OR conduct a mock vision screening utilizing an age-appropriate instrument (preschool only). 
• Conduct mock screening with a Near Visual Acuity chart (preschool only)
• Conduct a mock screening with stereopsis, if a tool is available (preschool only for those screeners utilizing charts; not applicable for instrument-based screenings.)
• Explain your organization’s referral and parental follow-up process.
• Share one improvement you may make as a result of the training.
• Finally, you will learn more about your 3-year certification.
