Not all children needing a screening have to be referred for an eye exam. In this module, we explore which children may receive an automatic referral and why.
Objectives
Once you’ve completed this module, you will be able to:
- Identify children who should receive an automatic referral because they are at higher risk of having vision disorders
- Explain the necessary steps to take if you are required to screen all children, including children with special health and/or learning needs
- Apply the referral criteria to case studies or scenarios to determine whether a child requires immediate referral
